Promise's Ultra100 is the first Ultra ATA/100-capable controller card created for testing by all major OEMs and drive manufacturers. Ultra100 supports up to four of these lightning-fast Ultra ATA/100 drives or any combination of Ultra ATA/100, Ultra ATA/66 or older EIDE/ATAPI devices. The card’s two ATA ports offer separate device timing to permit users to attach different speed drives and/or devices to the same channel without adversely affecting the device speed. Each device will run at their highest-rated speed. The Ultra100 is a PCI controller/80-wire cable combination to fully support 100MB/sec burst data transfers and other features of Ultra ATA/100 drives. Ultra100 also offers improved sequential data transfers (for large files), CRC error-checking support of UDMA mode, and bundles the required Ultra ATA/100 cable. The cable is needed to get 100MB/sec data transfers and offers greater data reliability. Ultra100 is fully backward compatible with Ultra ATA/66, Ultra ATA/33, EIDE, and ATAPI technologies, and co-exists with onboard ATA ports.
